Rights & Responsibilities
We respect your right to:
- Receive appropriate care that is courteous, considerate, timely and respectful of your diverse views, culture, gender and your right to confidentiality
- Receive honest information in a manner that is meaningful and relevant, with an interpreter if desired, and to decline information you do not wish to have
- Participate with the health care team in developing your treatment or care plan
- Obtain another health care professional's opinion
- Involve others to support you in making decisions about your care, and to have those decisions respected
- Make choices about treatments, and be informed of the health risks and benefits of those decisions
- Know the names and functions of the members of your health care team
- Expect that members of your care team will collaborate to ensure continuity of care
- Be listened to and have time to ask questions or express concerns without fear of reprisal
- Have your questions answered and concerns addressed within a reasonable time frame.
Mutual respect and cooperation are essential to the delivery of quality health care. We ask that you and/or your representative please:
- Provide information as requested to your health care team and notify them of any changes
- Work with your health care team to develop a treatment or care plan that addresses your needs
- Let staff know when you do not understand any or all of the information given to you
- Follow your treatment or care plan to the best of your availability
- Respect others' needs for quiet and privacy, and be courteous and respectful of others
- Respect hospital policies and act in a safe and responsible manner
- Your feedback is valued and invited
